You are receiving that message because you most likely have not completed the sign-up process with Juricert. Members are able to download a digital certificate before being "authenticated". However, you will not be able to successfully upload documents until you have sent in your completed application form, and received a confirmation email informing you that you can now download/use your digital certificate.

Miscellaneous

Can someone else affix my digital certificate to a document? What if I authorize them?

No. In agreeing to the terms and conditions, all registrants have confirmed that they will not permit anyone else to have access to their digital certificates or use it to electronically sign a land title document. Lawyers are reminded that it is an offence under the Land Title Act and a breach of the terms and conditions to permit anyone else to affix their digital certificates. Lawyers are required to personally affix their digital certificates as a necessary part of ensuring the integrity of the land title system in British Columbia. Failure to meet this requirement can result in disciplinary action and the loss of the right to file documents electronically with the land title office.

Can I sign non-LTO documents (letters, list of documents, etc.) with my Juricert digital certificate or only documents going to LTO?

You may sign any kind of document with your digital certificate. Please be sure that whoever you are submitting to will accept documents signed with a Juricert digital certificate.

Where do I find the Certification Practice Statement?

This link will take you to the Certification Practice Statement for Lawyers, Notaries, Authorized Subscribers and Financial Officers. For Land Surveyors, use this link to access the applicable Certification Practice Statement.
